This is the steering tube that connects your steering wheel to the steering box & to the Steering sector gear.
A very difficult part to find......RARE would be an understatement!
New Old Stock in good unused condition.
Worm gear protected in storage by cosmoline, removed for the photos.
The tube and splined end have only minor oxidization from over 60 years of storage.

The Steering tube measures

" in diameter. The Worm gear measures

" diameter worm gear (measured at the widest part), worm gear measures

" long in total.
There is a 1/2" long threaded end for the steering wheel .

It is common to develop play in the steering of most cars and replacing the steering tube is the way to go.
There really is NO way to rebuild an old worn out worm gear so replacement is the best solution.
The item is New Old Stock with only minor shelf wear and imperfections from storage only. There is no wear from use.
