    Description

Antique 1881 Fiddlebase Mother of Pearl Inlay Singer Model 12 Treadle Desk Sewing Machine.
The Singer 12 sewing machine was also called the Singer New Family Class that began in 1865.
The Serial number is 4,444,254 which places the manufacture date in the year 1881.
I know very little about sewing machines, but was able to pick this up from an estate recently.  The wood is in very good condition with age appropriate wear. The bobbin may be incomplete based on what I have seen online.  The spool of thread is very old.  All of the base pieces are present and in very good condition.  I did not test this machine other than to test the movement. The needle moves up and down freely when the pedal is pressed. The flywheel has some minimal surface rust.  The mother of pearl inlay is in excellent condition as is the "coffin" cover.
Please see pictures for details. I will be happy to send any additional pictures upon request.  This is listed as local pick up only, but I may be able to deliver, depending on the distance from Charlotte, NC for a fee.  I'm happy to assist with any freight pick up or pass on a few contacts that I've made for similar Ebay sales in the past.
