Chinese Vase, ca. 1900
This vase was from a large estate of many Asian antiques.
All items were appraised and evaluated in 1978 by Karel Wiest Antiques.
I have photographed the cover letter to support the evaluations.
I have circled in red, in one photo, the appraisal by Mr. Wiest for this vase.
It was appraised at 0.00 in 1978.
This vase is 17” tall.
It is decorated in famille rose palette
with bronze form vessels
containing flower arrangements and inscriptions.
I attempted to have the writing translated.
This is the response from the translator:
“The
red
writing is ancient Chinese.
The black writing beneath the red is a modern day translation of the red
writing.
The black writing is still difficult to read.
It references the King being 52 years old.
It is an incomplete story, even if it could be translated.”
