    Description

When I purchased this antique Willcox & Gibbs chainstitch machine, the cabinet tabletop has some delamination issues and is missing its leaf support arm, so I bought a second tabletop, leaf, and support arm for it.  Now cleaned, oiled, tested and reunited with a beautiful cabinet, and its original ornate cast iron base.  As much as I want to keep it and continue using it as my sole chainstitching machine, I need/have to sell it.  The original tabletop (top, leaf, and all associated mounting hardware) are included with this sale).  There is a repair that has been done on the bottom drawer.  Additionally, the pitman arm has been welded at some time prior to my acquaintance as well, but is solid.  It stitches a great stitch. Serial No is B580918.  Original table top has the numbers of 10 26 01 0 stamped into the underside.  Top drawer also has stamped on outside and inside of side panel, "Willcox & Gibbs S M Co 1302 Olive Street Saint Louis MO".  It is an EXTREMELY quiet machine.  The brake ball (probably in need of replacement, but works!) is louder rolling against the treadle wheel than the machine is stitching.  The machine is fully functioning and capable at all stitch lengths.  It is a great machine for decorative stitching, underbraiding, glovestitching and has great potential for many other tasks under power of a worthy operator.  I have installed a new leather belt on it as well.
Free local pickup or shipping is available.  I will not separate the original top, from the sale as the machine deserves to remain  intact to preserve its history (and is still very restorable).
This sewing machine possesses almost 125 years of original charm coupled with warm, loving patina and, having been respectfully used for over a century,  it remains in excellent, albeit, antique and original condition that should be given opportunity to faithfully serve in another home, for many more generations to come.
