Description
Vintage Singer Portable Sewing Machine, model 99k-1,First Series,
made in UK in Feb. 1922.
The first series has some distinctive features not in later machines. The thread tensioner is shared with the Singer 20 toy machine—the discs are only 3/4” diameter; and the needle bar and clamp are a smaller diameter than later machines. Not that it matters, it still runs whisper quiet and strong, and makes perfect stitches. The machine shows a shiny finish with some minor paint defects due to its age and use, so it was cleaned and polished but not over-restored. It was just serviced and adjusted and is ready to sew NOW.
The original bentwood case has been restored, but some patina is visible under the new polyurethane coating. The latch and lock work as new, and a key is included. The knee bar and box of accessories are stored in the top of the case, and the knee control is very responsive and easy to control.
All electrical components are in good condition.
This machine
uses standard 15x1 needles and style 66 bobbins.
A standard foot controller (not included) can be used in place of the knee bar (but the knee bar is so cool and works very well!). Also included is
a CD with PDF versions of several appropriate manuals.
AND we just purchased an original 1922 manual, so it will go with the machine!

Think of it: it lacks only a few months being 100 years old! And with proper care it could easily last another hundred! Thanks for your interest!
It’s already packed in a cocoon of bubble wrap and styrofoam, so go ahead and hit that “Buy It Now” button and you’ll have it in a week! (C’mon, you can do this!)
