    Description

    On Top of Spaghetti, Articulated, Based on 1963 Song, Madame Alexander, 8" Doll,  Plate of Spaghetti, Chef Hat, Box, Wrist Tag. Fair condition original box with clear label, missing box top.
    Hair retains original style, ribbons and hairnet. Articulated at neck, shoulders, elbows, waist, thighs, knees, all fully functional.  Note: Her eyes stick a bit but are bright and beautiful!
    All garments, trims, hat and undergarments, as well as shoes and shoe soles are like new. Exemplary overall condition. Hard to find complete and in this condition.
    American Folk Singer Tom Glazer and the Do-Re-Mi Children's Chorus made these lyrics a hit in 1963. His illustrated children's book was to follow in the 1980's. The lyrics begin: "On top of spaghetti, all covered with cheese...I lost my poor meatball, when somebody sneezed." This song had a wide appeal for all ages, in part because it showcased the silly side of life, having fun and humor. Madame Alexander has duplicated the spirit of whimsy in this adorable theme doll!
    Creative and quirky, this green-eyed brunette brings unique costume elements to the table, both figuratively and literally. Her puff sleeve dress top has white overlay bodice with tiny central eyelet accent and tiny scale rickrack trim creating a sawtooth edge. Below her waistline, a gathered peplum flounce overlays two layers of generously gathered, delicately ribbed, yellow stretch fabric with a distinct sheen to it. These layers are topped with flat, lighter yellow and white, soft cotton lacing yardage that is formed into loops sewn into the seam at waist, to represent spaghetti! A thick, cotton suede skirt underlayer supports the gathered layers and has a striped cording hem edge. Underneath, she wears modern tap pants with a decorative yellow edging. Thin olive-colored satin ribbon sash has back bow.  Her red patent Mary Jane shoes look perfect with her costume colors, unifying the overall color palette. She has her own plate of spaghetti accessory topped by the wandering meatball! This little sweetie is designed for mirth and the lighter side of life, just like the song she represents.
