Description

Vickers Modele De Luxe Antique Sewing Machine Bentwood Case from Approx 1920. These were made by Vickers Limited shortly after WWI. The company diversified from making weapons and tanks for the war effort to making sewing machines during peace time. The best information I can find is that the Modele De Luxe was made around 1919 - 1920, shortly after the war. The serial number C1-50882, and the logo, which has "Manufactured by Vickers Limited Modele De Luxe in a circle, with a large V and a crown shows this model to be the 3rd decal series.
It comes with a bentwood case that shows some wear from its age. It is lockable with a key included. There are several wear spots on the machine (see pictures) but the decals are in great shape all the way around.  It is in very good working condition. Turns very smoothly. This model has the stitch length adjustment as well as a reverse that both function well. Many thought Vickers were a copy of Singer machines from that time, but Vickers had the reverse stitching function on it's machines before Singer. It can also be converted to a treadle base. There are holes in the base to run a band through to the treadle wheel.
The machine alone weighs 31 lbs since its heavy cast iron. I will package and send through UPS to get the best shipping rates I can. Please send me your zip code so I can get an exact quote.  Sometimes the ebay calculator isn't always accurate for some zip codes.
Please ask any questions or for further pictures prior to bidding.
I have two other antique machines listed, so please check out my other auctions.
