    Description

The Singer company entered the Russian market in the sixties of the XIX century.
In 1900, the construction of the plant began in Podolsk. The plant was equipped with the latest technology. In 1902, the production of individual parts began, and by 1913 the production of sewing machines reached more than 600 thousand pieces per year. Sewing machines were sold in company stores, which were scattered throughout the Russian Empire. The Singer company even earned the right to be a “Supplier of the Court of His Imperial Majesty”, which was a sign of quality. Sewing machines were sold not only in Russia, but also exported to Turkey, the Balkans, as well as Persia, Japan and China.
In 1918 the plant was nationalized by the Bolsheviks, and sewing machines began to be sold under the brand name "Gosshveimashina", and in 1931 they already had the abbreviation "PMZ" on them, which means Podolsk Mechanical Plant. "
    Gosshveimashina
s", in contrast to "PMZ", were produced with original spare parts, therefore in quality they were in no way inferior to the original. "PMZ", it is believed, were already much worse.
Thus, the name "Gosshveimashina" means that it was produced from 1918 to 1931 and was of good quality, like the original Singer machine.
